While no bride wants to believe that there might be a small wedding day ‘hiccup’ on her big day, we’re firm believers in planning ahead – it’s always better to be safe than sorry! This means preparing a Wedding Day Kit that includes all the ‘just in case’ items you might need, from medical mini-emergencies to makeup and hair mishaps, so your dream wedding goes off without a hitch.
The most important thing to know about your Wedding Day Kit: it can be as big or small as you like. It’s your big day, so your kit should fit your personal needs. However, we believe there are certain items that all brides should have on hand, which fall into 3 categories: Beauty, Hygiene and Medical. At the very least, you should consider including some of these essential items in your Wedding Day Kit:
Hygiene and Toiletries
Breath mints or gum
Dental floss
Towelettes
Deodorant
Stain remover pen as well as chalk (it can cover up smudges on the wedding gown)
Safety pins
Tissues
Tampons
Bottled water (and straws to avoid messing up lipstick)
Medical Mini-Emergencies
Aspirin, ibuprofen or acetaminophen
Band-Aids
Medicine or tablets for an upset stomach
Allergy medication (for outdoor weddings)
Blister treatment or moleskin (for uncomfortable shoes)
Hair, Makeup and Beauty
Q-tips & makeup remover
Blotting papers
Hair accessories – hair pins, hair bands, brush, comb and hair spray
Double sided tape
Tweezers
Clear nail polish (for nail touchups as well as pantyhose tears)
As your maid or matron of honor is responsible for ensuring everything goes smoothly on your big day, you’ll want to talk her through all the items you’d like to include in the kit a few weeks prior to the wedding. You’ll also want to agree on a safe but easy-to-access place where she can keep the kit during the wedding reception because if something goes wrong, she’ll be the first person you turn to!
If you’re wondering what other types of items you should include in your Wedding Day Kit, why not attend one of our upcoming events where you can meet a wide selection of wedding consultants and other experts, who will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have!
